Abstract
In family work, it has been recognized that it is important to get in touch with the processes of daily activities. The methods used have not supported the aim of the work. The sequence structure of the day is a framework for focusing on complicated and self evident activities in households.
From this framework the sequence map method has been recently developed to meet the needs of the family work. The sequence map is a planning tool for developing the daily rhythm and routines. The studies concerning the project show that doing together is a necessary mean for executing the plan that has been written on the sequence map. The method has been developed within the family work, but can be applied also on other contexts, for instance, on studying independent living of elderly.
