Workshop 1 - An introduction to participatory video
September 18, 2014 – September 18, 2014
Roskilde University, 2-4 pm
Chris High and Florencia Enghel
30 places
This workshop will provide an introduction to the use of participatory video (PV) in international development. PV can be defined as film-making with people (instead of about them), where citizens create and use their own films in order to understand and act on the issues that concern them. Drawing on our own experience of working with communities in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, we offer an opportunity to experience and reflect on the use of PV in practice through hands-on activities, examples and discussion.
Workshop 2 - Thinking about PV in practice
September 19, 2014 – September 19, 2014
Malmö University, 1.20-3.30 pm
Florencia Enghel and Chris High
12 places
This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore some of the issues of using participatory video (PV) within international development. We invite participants to share some of the projects or ideas they are working on in order to consider the ethical, technical and organisational issues that come up when using participatory video in practice. The workshop will be an excellent opportunity to think through whether and how PV can be used in your own work. It will best suit development practitioners or students with their own projects.
