Abstract
My thesis is an analysis of a NGO organization ‘SydhavnsCompagniet’[1].
In my dissertation I would like to discuss how SydhavnsCompagniet constructs itself and is being constructed by its institutional surroundings. Furthermore I want to do research on how the subjects who are a part of SydhavnsCompagniet are being positioned and position themselves as members of the community.
The aim of my thesis is to analyze the relations between SydhavnsCompagniet and the subjects who take part in SydhavnsCompagniet as well as the relations between SydhavnsCompagniet and the institutional level in which SydhavnsCompagniet takes part in.
I want to elaborate on different understandings of the concept social entrepreneurship and use it to shed light on how transformations happen. Additionally, I want to analyze how the concept social entrepreneurship is being discursively constructed in SydhavnsCompagniet and in the institutional frames, which SydhavnsCompagniet interacts with.
I want to contribute to a better understanding of the changes that are going on in the Danish welfare society in these days – and at the same time illustrate the implications of the policies for the social sector. My empirical focus will be on the everyday stories of the volunteers/users/activated persons through both qualitative interviews and observations from SydhavnsCompagniet’s activities. Furthermore I want to go into the jungle of messyness that rules in and around the organization. My empirical data to that part will be a mixture of structured and unstructured interviews with the employees and the chief of the organization.

The SydhavnsCompagniet targets people who live in the neighborhood Kongens Enghave in order to encourage their positive potential. SydhavnsCompagniet contributes to the local area among others things with a community center, a second hand shop and a café. In its efforts to create an efficient local area SC tries to create social enterprises in different ways.
The project has 8-9 professional employees and around 100-150 inhabitants visit or participate as part/full time volunteers or users in the project monthly.
